Raiders and American Cancer Society Join Forces for Community Health
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Las Vegas Raiders and the American Cancer Society are working together to offer cancer screenings and promote prevention efforts within the community. The event, called Crucial Catch, emphasizes the importance of early detection and provides residents with access to valuable cancer prevention and screening services.
Crucial Catch Event Offers Health and Fun
Good Day Las Vegas’ JC Fernandez provided a live preview from the West Las Vegas Library, highlighting how Crucial Catch combines essential health resources with the excitement of Raiders-themed family fun. The event features breast, prostate, and skin cancer screenings, allowing participants to take proactive steps for their health while enjoying interactive activities and surprises associated with the Raiders.
Spotlight on Screening Accessibility
Angie Doyle, the Nevada Market Lead for the American Cancer Society, explained the variety of screenings available at the event. Doyle stressed that early screenings can play a critical role in detecting cancer when it is most treatable. She also highlighted how this partnership helps connect local residents with cancer screening services they may otherwise find difficult to access.
Special Guests and Raiders Activities
Raiders fans in attendance have the opportunity to meet fullback Connor Heyward, who serves as a Crucial Catch Ambassador for the American Cancer Society. He will be joined by the Raiderettes and additional special Raider guests, providing entertainment and a reason to celebrate community health initiatives alongside their favorite NFL team.
Mammovan Delivers Mobile Mammography Services
The event also features the Nevada Health Centers’ Mammovan, a mobile mammography unit that has delivered breast cancer screening services throughout Nevada for over 25 years. Mayra Arteaga, the organization’s marketing outreach supervisor, offered a walkthrough of the Mammovan and discussed how the unit is designed to reach women in urban, rural, and frontier areas. Each screening takes approximately 30 minutes, making it convenient for attendees to participate.
Event Schedule and Participation
The Crucial Catch event is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13th, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the West Las Vegas Library. Mammogram appointments are available earlier in the day from 8:40 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., with walk-in times open from 3 to 5 p.m. Those interested in scheduling a mammogram can call 877-581-6266 for more information.
